S-T-R-I-K-E - Bowling in PE

Ever look at this blog and think, "Wow...I wish I could have done this in school?!"  Well - I often feel the same way. Here's an example:  Who wouldn't want to learn the rules, strategies, and scoring of bowling as an elementary school student?

Take a look at our 3rd and 4th graders in PE!

Simple Machines

Third graders learned about simple machines and had real-world examples to share with other students in the school.  Great job, third grade!

Thank you, Tamara Daugherty, for being a great homeroom mom to our third graders!  What fun snacks - modeled after simple machines!

Kite Day with First Grade

I'm doing a little blogging catch-up!  Spring has been a busy time with LOTS of great activities, so I've fallen a bit behind. Though this event was about a month ago, the pictures from 1st Grade Kite Day with Dad were too good not to share!

These first graders had a special time with their dads.  Because of work schedules, one mom and one grandpa helped out!  The weather was absolutely perfect - a little brisk, but oh so very windy and perfect for kite flying!

"Ruh Roh"

Conversation I overheard...

"Daddy...how do we get the kite out of the tree?"
"Well, I don't know, but I know that yanking on this string isn't the way."

Solar Systerm Projects

Not only is it great to see the learning that occurs each day at PCA North, but it is wonderful to see our students share their knowledge with others.  Recently, our second grade students invited parents and other grade levels to view their solar system projects.  They did an excellent job, not just with their research model, but explaining their selected planet to others.

Cascarones - Thanks, Mrs. Arredondo!

Mrs. Arredondo, our Spanish and music teacher, goes above and beyond the call of duty every day!  During the Easter season, she wanted our students to experience a Mexican tradition of cascarones or confetti eggs.

Mrs. Arredondo and her family had eggs for dinner - every night for a week!  She made the carscarones at home and told our students how they are used in Mexico as part of celebrations.
