And I should be in bed
But my heart was so full
And many thoughts in my head...
Ok...I really should be in bed because the first day of school is tomorrow! I'm so excited I can't wind down! I realize the above poem is rather silly and not my best work, but there you go - the mind of an elementary principal! I have a weird rhyming ability, probably as a result of reading a lot of children's literature.
Anyway, yes...I should be in bed! School starts tomorrow!!!! I've been making certificates that say..."Student on the First Day of PCA North." And, I've put students' names on the certificates. Yes...we have students! We are starting a school campus tomorrow!!!! (or actually today since it is after midnight!)
My heart truly is so full I can't sleep!
Here's what I keep thinking about...God will accomplish His purposes. This I know to be true. However, what an absolute blessing it is when he chooses US to join Him in His work. I'm so grateful I get to be a part of the beginning of Prestonwood Christian Academy's North campus!
The journey of PCA North is far from just MY journey. This campus has been prayed for before I ever knew it was an idea. PCA North is part of the the journey of every staff member and every family. I've heard their stories. They've shared their hearts and feel called to be at this place at this time, knowing God has big things in store. We understand this isn't our work, but God's. We feel it. And - this journey isn't even just about PCA North. It is about the PCA community - the entire school that has supported our new campus. It's also about our church. It's about Prestonwood. We feel the support. In fact, my pastor called me tonight to tell me he was thinking about me, praying for me - and encouraged me to get to bed early. Well...how very kind of Pastor Kouba to call. Too bad I didn't listen and go to bed early!
I want to share how supported the PCA North community feels by sharing glimpses of our All School Worship held last night.
After our Meet the Teacher time at PCA North, we headed to Plano to join the entire PCA community for All School Worship. Our North community had a reserved section - right on the front rows. We felt honored and it was great to be able to sit and worship together.
Our children participated in worship with children from the Plano campus. Nothing like hearing those sweet little voices.
It truly was great having our families and staff sitting and worshiping near each other.
There was a special time of family prayer.
While this entire evening was special - I was left absolutely speechless when the North community was asked to stand. We were surrounded by administrators, teachers, and PCA's Board of Trustees as Prestonwood North's Lead Pastor, Dr. Kouba, prayed a prayer of blessing over us. To see us surrounded - and know that it was symbolic of the way we have felt surrounded from the beginning...tears flowed. The tears were not just mine, but everywhere I looked. We are blessed. We get to join God in a new work, with the total support from our "mother ship" who, without, we wouldn't be forming a campus to bring Kingdom education to even more families.
Now to Him who is able to do far more
abundantly beyond all that we ask or think,
according to the power that works within us.
Ephesians 3:20
