Almost from the beginning, I've referred to our PCA North staff and families as "pioneers." I love the analogy, understand that pioneers are those God has chosen to go first - blaze the trail - lead the way! Our job is to lay a great foundation, knowing many others will follow in the months and years to come!
This is the case of those committed to linking arms as we join God in what He is doing in establishing Prestonwood Christian Academy North. As we know, PCA is beginning its eighteenth year as a school. There is a legacy of excellence, service, and commitment to seeking God's direction in all we do as a school. What an honor to be chosen to help start the school's campus in Prosper, located with Prestonwood North.
What a better way to celebrate being a pioneer and meet new families than with a Pioneer Picnic! On August 7th, many of our families joined with our staff in celebration. We heard from Prestonwood North's Lead Pastor, Dr. Chris Kouba. Not only has he welcomed PCA North to the church campus, he and his wife have enrolled their four children at PCA North students! Dr. Larry Taylor, Head of School, not just spoke and inspired staff, but also had a bit of fun putting on pioneer attire in our photo booth! Everyone enjoyed Rick Briscoe, Prestonwood North's Worship Leader sang the school song. The evening was so much fun - filled with meeting new friends, playing pioneer games, praying for our new campus and celebrate by launching blue and gold balloons!
Enjoy these pictures from a very special evening!

Thanks, Dr. Taylor for lending leadership and fun to our new campus! |

This sweet family truly was one of our FIRST PCA North families! Thanks for being pioneers! |

Rick Briscoe singing the school song. As the dad of two alumni, he was grateful to finish the song with dry eyes! |

This made me smile - seeing this sweet new student in the bonnet my grandmother made for me - for Pioneer Day when I was in the fourth grade! |
Do we have fun teachers, or what?! |
What a sweet place to get a first hug from her new teacher? |
Seriously? Can a cowgirl and cowboy get much cuter than these two? |
Stick horse races provided some fun entertainment! |
Sweet family! It's so fun when mom is also a teacher at our new campus! |

I met parents during the admissions/parent interview process and quickly grew to love our new families. Now - how fun to get to know the students! I can't wait until I know each and every name! |

Another sweet teacher, one PCA North Lion, and one future Lion pictured here! |
Welcome, to another new pioneer family! |
It was really fun for me to meet the students who, before this evening, had just been names on a list! |
Many thanks to this sweet family for helping with the decorations that made this evening even more fun! They are true examples of pioneers - getting in, rolling up their sleeves, and volunteering to do whatever is needed! |
Panning for gold sure is fun when the golden nuggets are filled with chocolate! |

An upside down mustache turns the look into a nice handlebar! |

GOLD RUSH! |
Here's another little pioneer I'm looking forward to getting to know better. |
A ZILLION thank-yous to this family. I think they lived and breathed the Pioneer Picnic for a few weeks! This sweet mom created this amazing photo booth, designed the room decorations, created the Gold Rush activity, coordinated volunteers, etc., etc., etc., Oh my! I'm seldom speechless, but I had no words when I saw how she took "one of my little random ideas" and made it bigger and better than I could have dreamed! What a great evening! |

There are so many families I look forward to getting to know better. This mom is a former drama teacher. I've never seen this little guy when he wasn't animated. Love it. I suspect the "apple doesn't fall far from the tree!" |
Before we knew it, the evening was drawing to a close. The sun was setting. The weather cooler. We headed out to grab our blue and gold balloons. My Administrative Assistant Extraordinaire, Anslie Dysart, taught us all the PCA Chant and as we said..."PCA...PCA....UMMMMMMPH," we let the beautiful balloons float into the sky.
