Solar Systerm Projects

Not only is it great to see the learning that occurs each day at PCA North, but it is wonderful to see our students share their knowledge with others.  Recently, our second grade students invited parents and other grade levels to view their solar system projects.  They did an excellent job, not just with their research model, but explaining their selected planet to others.

Cascarones - Thanks, Mrs. Arredondo!

Mrs. Arredondo, our Spanish and music teacher, goes above and beyond the call of duty every day!  During the Easter season, she wanted our students to experience a Mexican tradition of cascarones or confetti eggs.

Mrs. Arredondo and her family had eggs for dinner - every night for a week!  She made the carscarones at home and told our students how they are used in Mexico as part of celebrations.

Easter - Rememberance and Celebration

One of the biggest joys of teaching at a Christian school is being able to share the truth of our risen Savior with students.  To us, every day is Easter as we celebrate our new life in Christ.  However, how special to have a season dedicated to teaching students to remember the sacrifice of Christ's death and to celebrate His resurrection.

Here are some pictures of various Easter activities.

First and second grade performed a reader's theater play for our school, sharing the Easter story in such a beautiful way.

Texas Hall of Fame

Fourth graders learned about famous Texas while honing both their research and oral presentation skills when they invited younger grade levels, parents, and friends to view the Texas Hall of Fame.

Mrs. Darla Ryan - Thank you!  What a wonderful experience you are giving our PCA North 4th graders!

World Impact Day 2015

What is World Impact Day?  Simply put, it is one of the most important school wide events of the year.  It is a day our entire school comes together to celebrate that we, as a school, are able to share the love of Christ with others.  As our Upper School students prepare to leave for their minimester mission trips, the Lower and Middle School students join them for a worship service.  The service is a celebration of cultures as we reflect on places PCA students and families have traveled to share the Gospel.  We also look forward and commission those who will soon leave to share Christ's love either locally, nationally, or internationally.

PCA North had the privilege of partnering with those going to Uganda to share the love of God with the people of this African country.

The blog post below shows a bit of what we did to help in tangible ways.

North students came to school a little early to load buses and head to Plano for World Impact Day.

Soon after we were in our seats, we began our program with the parade of flags.  It was such a moving ceremony - seeing each country PCA families have shared the Gospel represented by that nations' flag.  A black flag represented countries visited, but not open to the Gospel being openly shared.

Next, we honored the places, both in the U.S. and abroad where students will serve this upcoming week.

Two of our fourth grade students wore Uganda dress, representing the mission trip our North campus is supporting both with bringing tangible items for the trip and by praying for this trip until they return.

Our first and second graders joined students from the Plano campus and sang "Jesus Loves the Little Children."

An additional highlight was watching some of our PCA students share a bit of their family's culture, sharing a dance from the country of India.

Prestonwood North's lead pastor, Dr. Chris Kouba, brought a challenge to us and led us in a prayer of commissioning those high school students leaving for mission trips.

After a very meaningful worship service, PCA North students met the high school students leaving for Uganda.  They shared what they were most excited about and also what they were nervous about.  This will help us as we continue to pray during the trip.

After the worship service, we met with the high school students who will be on the Uganda mission team.  Classes had already been praying for certain students and it was very fun to put names and faces together and connect in person.

Students did a craft together and also spent time in prayer.

This precious fourth grader made bracelets to send with her prayer buddy to bless the children of Uganda.

One of my favorite pictures from the day is this one of Debbie Sykes, one of our OCS North parents and former 2nd grade teacher at the PCA Plano campus, with three of her former students who were on their way to Uganda.

Before heading back to our North campus, we had lunch together, but it wasn't our customary PB&J or Lunchable.  Our entire school had a lunch of beans, rice, and water to remind to us how blessed we are.
